Goodbye 2008

I was planning to summarize 2008 in this post...
But i realize that there's just too much to fit in just one post
Everything flew by so quickly
dat i never really had the time to sit down and appreciate all of it...
Every event in 2008 felt like it all happened yesterday
within 24 hours...
Seriously WOW
I can still remember clearly where i celebrated last new year's eve..

What can I say?
I just wanna thank God for every single second in 2008
It is a real blessing how much I learnt
and how much i've grown as a person...
How He opened my eyes to see the bigger picture of life
and the friends He brought into my life...
How He revealed His purpose for me through different incidents..
I am truly amazed by His Work in me and my family...

Well,
to summarize 2008,
I would say dat I have indeed
Live Life with No Regrets
How bout urs?

P/S : I've been tinking a lot about my 2009 new year resolution. Will share more bout it with u guys once i've finalize them. God bless n A very Happy 2009!!!

A Christmas to Remember

Few weeks before christmas,
Mum asked where would I be spending my christmas..
I was tinking,
if Santa were to grant me a wish,
I would ask for a Christmas with 'him'...
Guess what?
My wish did come true...

The Bf asked me over to Sabah and i said Yes!!
Hehe....

Island trip to Pulau Sapi

From left : John, Kimmay, Me, The Bf, Shereen,Tim,Chris

The Bf was TRYING to be romantic by bringing me to Tanjung Aru =P

Beautiful skies of Sabah

On Christmas Eve, I had my first Gingerbread house at John's

The house was so beautiful dat we din know where or how to start eating it
and we got our first Christmas gift from Tim & Shereen
so sweeet of them.. =)
The day before I left,
we were going to Mount K...
Of all times, the tyre had to puncture on de way there... =(

We had to call for help...
After the tyre was changed, it started to rain..
So our plan to Mount K had to be cancelled.. =((
While waiting,
we discussed on certain guidelines regarding us...
A bird's eye view of Sabah taken from the plane
This trip was certainly a memorable one for me...
Though i did not visit many places,
it was the time spent with him
and the opportunity to meet his mum
dat i cherish most
=)

Ps : Sorry for being too cheesy at this time. Bear with me kays. Hehe...

Happy Birthday Dr.M !!!

Today,
one of the very few people I admire and respect turns 83..
He is none other than our former Prime Minister,
Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad
He was Malaysia's longest serving Prime Minister, occupying that seat from 1981 to 2003.
A man of all embracing vision,
one can say without a doubt Malaysia's former premier always spoke his mind.
My hats off to you, Dr.M for your boldness
that has made Malaysia's name known in the face of the world...

Here are two articles taken from MSN Malaysia News:

Dr Mahathir Mohamad introduces a photo of a child victim of war on display while delivering his speech at the "Expose War Crimes, Criminalise War" International Conference and Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Feb. 5, 2007. Mahathir accused George W. Bush and Tony Blair of being more evil and worse murderers than Saddam Hussein and the Sept. 11 attackers. In some of his most blistering insults against the U.S. and British leaders, Mahathir said their war in Iraq had caused worse terror than al-Qaida's suicide bombers around the world. (AP Photo)

Dr Mahathir Mohamad tries to hold back his tears after his last speech at the general assembly of the ruling United Malays National Organization (UMNO) as Malaysia's prime minister, before his retirement. Kuala Lumpur, Thursday June 19, 2003. (AP Photo)

I remembered vividly that very day Dr.M announced his retirement 5 years ago.
I was browsing through the tv channels to see if there were any
interesting programs after one whole day of revision .
And then, I happen to land on the live telecast of UMNO's general assembly.
Dr.M was giving his speech at that time.
Normally, i wouldn't be bothered to listen to another boring speech
and would quickly switch to another channel...
Somehow I just did not on dat historic day..
I continued listening and then came that defining moment
where he announced his stepping down from being the PM...
I was SHOCKED.
and I literally broke down into tears right in front of the tv...
i'm serious.
Was that a joke or was it for real?
I asked myself.
I couldn't believe my eyes nor could I believe my ears.
Sadly, it was true.

5 years has gone by.
THANK YOU Dr.M
for making the difference to Malaysia, my beloved country.
You will always be remembered.

Forgiveness

Today is exactly one year from the day i started blogging. However, I'm writting this day with a totally different spirit. Last year, i started off with unforgiveness in me. At this very moment, i dare to say that i'm a free person and have experienced the power of forgiveness tremendously in my life...Praise God!
And so i thought i shud share sth about forgiveness to commemorate dis day- How forgiveness actually changed my life in 2008!

Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. -Colossians 3:13-

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adapted from Cleo december 2008
Most folk go through life living with the certainty that people who hurt us deserve to be punished, not forgiven. what's more, we feel that it is us who have to deliver this punishment; that it is our God-given duty to smite these cruel souls on behalf of all good people on the planet; that we have to make them pay.
Mostly, we simply choose to withhold our forgiveness under the mistaken belief that the bad guys actually care. We assume they need ourforgiveness to move on with their lives, when in fact, they don't.
The sad truth is this : we can live without the forgiveness of the people we have wronged; but without being able to forgive the people who wrong us, we die.

What Forgiveness is Not
  • Forgiveness is not forgetting

By forgiving the people who hurt us, we are not erasing painful past experiences from our memory. We cannot forget, nor should we. Those experiences, and even the pain they caused, have a great deal to teach us, both about not being victimised again and about not victimising others.

  • Forgiveness is not condoning

When we forgive, we lessen the past's impact on our present and future, but this does not alter the fact that the injuries and injustices we experienced were painful and unfair when the ordeal occurred originally. Forgiving the people who hurt us does not mean we are saying that what was done was in any way acceptable. In fact, true forgiveness cannot occur while we are in any way denying, minimising, justifying or condoning the actions that harmed us.

  • Forgiveness is not absolution

Forgiveness does not give us the right to get all self-righteous and to play God, temting though it may be. It does not let the people who have hurt us off the hook. We do not absolved them of all responsibility for their actions, and one day, they will have to make their own peace with their past.

  • Forgiveness is not self-sacrifice

Forgiveness is not martyrdom, tolerance or "being nice". There is no such thing as half hearted forgiveness. We either forgive or we don't.

  • Forgiveness is not a clear-cut decision

Forgiveness cannot be forced, and no matter how sincerely we want to let go of the past, we cannot schedule it to happen next week, next month or even next year. Forgiveness is what happens naturally as a result of confronting painful past experiences and healing old wounds.

Adapted from Forgiveness : How To Make Peace With Your Past and Get on With Your Life by Sidney and Suzanne Simon

"Forgiveness is all about working through the unfinished business, letting go of the pain and moving in for your sake. You forgive so that you can finally get rid of the excess emotional baggage that has been weighing you down and holding you back; so you can be free to do and be whatever you decide"

Learning to forgive will save you a whole lot of money, time and unhappiness, because you don't forgive the other person for his sake; you forgive for yourself.

In the beginning....

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast,
it is not proud.
5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails

Always gonna show up...

McDreamy : I was a jerk. Sometimes bf can be a jerk. Doesn't mean you can stop talking. You get that i'm saying sorry right?
Meredith : You yelled at me for no reason and then you walked away. Now you show up here.
McDreamy : Ok this is how it works. We fight sometimes and somebody apologizes.
Meredith : How am I supposed to know that?
Mcdreamy : You have never done this before?
Meredith : No I haven't done this before.
McDreamy : Hhmmm...From now on, you can expect me to show up. Even if I yell, even if you yell. I'm always gonna show up ok?
Meredith : Ok. =)

God 'punishes' His Children?

When we face difficulties in life, we constantly ask ourselves some of these questions:
Why do we have to suffer through exams?
Why do my parents have to argue all the time?
Why did my boyfriend leave me for someone else?
Why does money has to be the root of all my problems?
Why do I need to face that irritating Girl every morning?
Why must it be Peter who has to die in dat accident??

"God, why are You allowing me to go through this misery??
Life is so unfair!!!"
We start pointing fingers at others and then God...

"If God loves us, He wouldn't let me through all this..."

Have you ever wonder that God put obstacles in our life
simply because
HE LOVES US??
But how can He allow us to be hurt if He really loves us?

Yes He is the Perfect One...
At the same time, He is also Our Father....

As much as a earthly father loves his children,
he would 'punish' his children...
so that they can learn their lesson...
Dun u tink our father/mother is hurting inside as well when they had to teach us thru the hard way?
I remember seeing tears in my mum's eyes when she used to cane me...
It hurts our parents more than we're hurt physically...
But because they LOVE us so much,
they want us to be a better person....

Just like God
as much as He loves us
He wans us to make us stronger...
Therefore He allow difficult situations(which we perceive as 'punishment')
in our life so dat we can learn better...
Bear in mind dat in every situation of our life,
there is a Greater Purpose behind...
there are always lessons to be learnt...
It depends on how much we allow God to work in us...
After all, He is Our Father....

To Gain is Pain?

"We build walls around our hearts to protect us from anyone on the outside getting in to hurt us. But that same wall which keeps people out, keeps us stuck inside."
-A fren, Pelupa Kawan-

Many times we try not to reveal so much of ourselves
cos we may tink dat de more ppl know bout us,
de higher risk there is for us to get hurt..
we're simply afraid...
But wat we sometimes do not realize is,
de thicker the wall we build around ourselves,
we're actually keeping ppl who really care away...

And so we learn to open up ourselves more..
When we finally do dat,
there comes another saying that goes like dis...

"The closer you come to somebody, the greater potential there is for pain."
-Cicak Man-

So tell me,
how shud we guard our hearts so dat we will not be hurt?
And at the same time, open our hearts to receive some love?
Hmmmmm......
Where do we draw the line?

Love is a CHOICE

SOmeone once told me dat
Love is a CHOICE
NOT so much of a FEELING....

Honestly,
this is something very new to me...
I always tot dat Loving someone is about how we feel bout dat person
I mean how can we actually choose to like someone...
It cant be like " Hey there, i choose to like you from now onwards"
There has to be some sort of a feeling/ attraction to want to like someone...
But then, i've actually learnt dat if its merely bout wat we feel
then do we stop loving someone when he/she annoys us with his/her bad habits?
Do we stop loving someone when he/she makes us angry?
Do we stop loving him/her when they're nt there when we need them most?
Do we stop loving them when they dun call?
Do we stop loving......?

If Love is all about Feelings,
how do u tink Jesus felt when He was betrayed, condemned, denied and tortured?
Still He CHOSE to die on the cross for us sinners
This is all because He CHOSE to love us...
If it was bout how He felt,
He wud have called upon the Father to save Him from man..
But He did not...
because He CHOSE to love us...

Well, i tink its de feelings that starts de whole thing
But..

I believe that in a long run
it IS a CHOICE to continue loving someone...
It is a commitment we choose to make
It cant be just the feelings...
If that is the case, we just have to endure the pain dat comes along with it...
Rite?

Till death do us part?
LOL
